H&H Bagels Bringing Famous NYC Bagels To Montana Ave.
Ever since Marmalade Cafe closed up shop at its longtime location of 710 Montana Ave. in Santa Monica, readers have been demanding answers as to what would take over the space. Construction began quickly and the speculation was wild. I’d been hearing whispers of the incoming tenant, but now we have proof. New York’s celebrated H&H Bagels is taking up residence at this location, as confirmed by their website. H&H began in New York in 1972 and uses the “artisanal water bagel method” that produces results for which fans go crazy and many consider to be the quintessential bagel. They are in the midst of a national expansion, and this will be their first West Coast store.

Truck explosion destroys residential sound wall along NJ Route 3
CLIFTON — A truck explosion obliterated a sound barrier along Route 3 and melted the siding of a house Monday morning. Route 3 was closed in both directions where the highway meets Route 46 and passes over Valley Road in Clifton after the tractor-trailer went up in flames around 9 a.m. The highway remained closed as of 11:45 a.m.

Denny’s Corp. has named Patty Trevino as SVP and chief brand officer of its namesake brand and appointed Monigo G. Saygbay-Hallie as chief people officer for the diner chain and its sister concept, Keke’s. Both bring more than two decades of business experience to their new roles. Trevino was most recently EVP and CMO at Red Lobster, where Denny’s CEO Kelli Valade had also worked prior to assuming her current post. Green Day are days away from beginning their big stadium tour with The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas, and before that begins they stopped in NYC for an early morning show at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield for Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series. They played “Bobby Sox,” “Dilemma,” and part of “Look Ma, No Brains” from this year’s Saviors, along with “American Idiot,” “Holiday,” and “Basket Case” for the crowd, some of whom slept in the park to get in (an estimated 7,000 people turned out).
