A head-on collision in Brookfield left one dead on Tuesday, according to the New York State Police.

Police responded to NY-8 in the town of Brookfield for a two-vehicle head-on collision on Tuesday, July 23, at around 3:48 p.m.

Police said the preliminary investigation determined that Dominick Brown, 44, from New Berlin, was driving a blue 2004 GMC Sierra pickup southbound on NY-8 when he crossed over the double yellow onto the opposite lane, striking a black 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe driven by Nancy Simon, 63, from Leonardsville,.

Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene, troopers said. An autopsy will be conducted to determine an official cause of death.

Simon was airlifted to Upstate University in critical condition with internal injuries to her lower extremities.

    The investigation is ongoing.
