4 Hospitalized, Horse Killed in Horse and Buggy Accident in Deerfield
A serious accident involving a Ford Focus and a horse and buggy have left four people hospitalized and a horse dead. Oneida County Sheriff's deputies were first called to the scene of a serious accident just after 7:30 p.m. Monday. The accident occurred on State Route 12 North between the Glass Factory Road entrance ramp and State Route 8 exit, according to Sheriff Rob Maciol.

Rome residents can soon apply for money from $1 million-plus recovery fund
Rome, N.Y. — Rome residents harmed by severe thunderstorms and a tornado that plowed through the city last week can soon apply to a recovery fund, officials said. About $175,000 has already been raised for the Rome Victims Recovery Fund, according to Anthony Picente Jr., the Oneida County executive. The county plans to contribute $1 million, he said.

Ilion's Duofold building suffers partial collapse
ILION — Public safety officials from Ilion were dispatched to the vacant Duofold complex at 7 Spruce St. last week for a possible building collapse. After the arrival of officials from Ilion’s fire and police departments, as well as the mayor’s office, at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, it was determined that a partial collapse of the west-end structure of the complex had occurred. The structure, officials say, had collapsed and pulled away from the connected building, leaving the far west portion of the building still standing. Officials also noted that a debris field was spread across the entire south side of the building, with the largest pile of debris remaining in the vicinity of the collapse.
