A surge of heat, humidity just before July 4th
The very comfortable air mass the Valley residents enjoyed Monday and Tuesday will be quickly overtaken by tropical air Wednesday morning. Highs will be near the 90 degree mark Wednesday with elevated dewpoints as well. While much of the day is expected to be rain-free, there may be a shower or storm around by late afternoon or early evening. The chance for an occasional shower or storm is also in the forecast for Wednesday night, especially before midnight.

Temporary layoffs hit two Stellantis plants amid sales and inventory problems
Stellantis NV is scaling back production and temporarily laying off workers at two major U.S. plants as it grapples with lower sales and bloated inventories. At the Warren Truck Assembly Plant near Detroit, Stellantis is cutting production from two to one daily shift for July, resulting in a temporary layoff of roughly 1,600 workers, or about half the facility's workforce.

Mahoning, Trumbull courts to receive new fingerprint scanners from state grant program
Courts within Mahoning and Trumbull County will receive new fingerprint scanners from a state grant program to "bolster criminal-records systems" within the Valley. Announced in a press release from the Attorney General's Office, the state's criminal-records repository will pay for 77 new devices that courts across Ohio will use to capture defendants' fingerprints for submission to the database.

Youngstown CityScape awarded $30K in grants
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown CityScape is the recent recipient of two local grants, announced July 2.
