Comes Comes Home First in Quenneville Memorial at Devil’s Bowl
WEST HAVEN, VT.- Fair Haven’s Justin Comes won Saturday’s 38-lap Vince Quenneville, Sr., ‘Legends Night’ Memorial race at Devil’s Bowl over Josh Masterson, Tanner Seimons and 26 other competitors. Justin Lilly won the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman feature. Matt Wade, Jakobee Alger, Gage Provencher, Chad Merrill and Chase Allen also picked up feature wins, along with several members of the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modifieds. The night of racing was presented by the Community College of Vermont, one of the speedway’s most dedicated and loyal sponsors.
Groundbreaking celebrates Reid Commons in St Albans
Affordable Housing Community Will Add 33 New Apartments for Older Adults. Vermont Business Magazine Cathedral Square has announced that construction is underway on Reid Commons, bringing 33 new energy-efficient, affordable apartments for adults 55 and older to St. Albans. Located at 17 Lower Newton Street, Reid Commons will offer one- and two-bedroom apartments with a range of rents to serve a mixed-income community.
Water Main Break - Barre/Main Street Intersection
This afternoon July 23rd, 2024, the Department of Public Works was notified of a water main break at the intersection of Main Street and Barre Street. We believe the leak is on the 14” water main that runs along Barre Street. DPW is working to shift traffic over and close two of the crosswalks at that intersection. We are trying to maintain water pressure to prevent a boil water notice from having to be issued.

Court approves Dartmouth settlement in financial aid case

Enosburg resident arrested on warrant after Berkshire disturbance
BERKSHIRE — A 40-year-old Enosburg resident was arrested on an active warrant following a disturbance on Route 105 on July 22. Sidney Pecor was apprehended by Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks after they responded to the incident around 7:57 p.m. Pecor, identified as the individual involved in the disturbance, was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.
Timothy Ropas of Malone, NY found guilty of kidnapping
MALONE, N.Y. — A Malone man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after he was convicted of kidnapping. A Franklin County jury found 29-year-old Timothy Ropas guilty of several charges including kidnapping, burglary and criminal possession of a weapon in a trial held earlier this month.
