The grill at Wahlburgers in the Town of Brookfield is shut down for good.

The 6,000-square-foot restaurant at 325 N. Market St. opened through Hy-Vee, Inc. nearly five years ago as the first of the franchise in Wisconsin.

Wahlburgers is operated by Chef Paul Wahlberg and his actor brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg. The restaurant at The Corners of Brookfield featured made-from-scratch recipes for burgers, chicken and fish plus vegetarian options and a full bar.

At a sneak peek before the restaurant opened in September 2019, Paul Wahlberg said he wanted to live up to Midwestern kindness, friendliness and quality, but also called the people around Milwaukee "too friggin' nice."

The Brookfield location has already been removed from the Wahlburgers.com website . The social media pages for the location have also been taken down and it is listed as "permanently closed" on Google.

Wisconsin still has six Wahlburgers locations in Madison, La Crosse, Eau Claire, Ashwaubenon, Fitchburg and Janesville, according to the company website.

The Journal Sentinel has reached out to Wahlburgers regarding the reason for the sudden closure but has not heard back.
