The Fourth-Grade Watermelon Weigh-In, sponsored by the Lincoln County Master Gardeners, will be Saturday, Aug. 3, 6-8 p.m. at the Brookhaven Exchange Club Fair.

Area fourth-grade students were given Congo melon seeds in the spring by the Master Gardeners. Every student who brings his or her melon to be weighed will receive a free armband for rides that day, the final day of the Fair.

Prizes will be awarded for the heaviest melon overall — $100 for first, $50 for second, and $25 for third place — and for the heaviest melon grown by a boy, and heaviest melon grown by a girl.
