Oklahoma Sooners Set to Exploit Vulnerable Temple Defense in Opener
The Temple Owls are entering the 2024 season with significant defensive hurdles, primarily due to the loss of standout linebacker Jordan Magee, who led the team in tackles and sacks. In response to these challenges, defensive coordinator Everett Withers has implemented a new 4-3 scheme, marking a major shift that could bolster their performance, particularly in run defense. For Oklahoma, this matchup provides a prime opportunity for quarterback Jackson Arnold to gain early-season experience against a transitioning Temple defense, which may be vulnerable due to their personnel changes. The Sooners' wide receivers can leverage this game to establish chemistry and prepare for tougher opponents later in the season. Overall, the clash presents Oklahoma with a chance to refine their offense amidst Temple's defensive growing pains.

Phillies get crucial ammo to help fight off lingering free-fall
The Philadelphia Phillies haven't really looked like themselves as of late. They're 12-20 in the second half of the season, including losing four of their last five. They look to be on the borderline of a mini collapse as the season inches closer to the end. Their next nine games include two against the Royals, three against the Astros and four against the Braves. If they're not careful, they run the risk of letting the Braves close the five-game lead in the NL East that the Phillies have worked so hard to hold onto.
