Streak of storm chances start today
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Hopefully everyone enjoyed the ample sunshine across the Mid-Ohio Valley this weekend. Despite dealing the low 90s for both days, at least it was not humid. Now, as we start a new week, we will say goodbye to the sunshine and must bring back the muggy air. It is going to feel like a bit of a long week as we will be looking at the chance of showers and storms throughout the week. However, we do need more rain here in the Mid-Ohio Valley and throughout West Virginia as drought conditions persist.
Rain showers, thunderstorms expected to continue throughout majority of week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Good Morning NCWV! Starting off the work week we are getting some much needed rainfall and storms throughout the majority of today, seeing about a half inch of rainfall, amounts are expected to be higher within storms. These rain showers and storms will become widespread across the area around 9-10AM today. Highs today will be a bit below average today, only getting into the low 80s in the lowlands and the mid 70s in the higher elevations.
West Virginia Faces Severe Storms and Heavy Rainfall Today
Charleston, WV – West Virginia residents should prepare for an unsettled day ahead with significant chances of severe weather and excessive rainfall. The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued an alert for Monday, July 29, 2024, indicating the potential for isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing heavy downpours. These storms could lead to localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Rite Aid closes more stores following bankruptcy
