Pennsylvania congressman chosen to lead House task force investigating Trump assassination attempt
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Pennsylvania congressman who witnessed the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump firsthand will lead the House task force charged with investigating what went wrong and recommending solutions to help ensure such an attack doesn’t happen again. Republican Rep. Mike Kelly represents the city of Butler, where the July 13 attack occurred. He attended Trump’s campaign rally and sponsored the legislation to create the task force, saying his community was grieving and that “the people of Butler and the people of the United States deserve answers.” Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York jointly announced on Monday that 13 lawmakers had been appointed to the task force. It will be comprised of seven Republicans and six Democrats and will issue a final report before Dec. 13. To conduct its investigation, the House approved a resolution giving the panel the authority to issue subpoenas. “We have the utmost confidence in this bipartisan group of steady, highly qualified, and capable members of Congress to move quickly to find the facts, ensure accountability, and help make certain such failures never happen again,” Johnson and Jeffries said in their statement.

One person is dead following a domestic incident that led to a standoff in Enon Valley on Tuesday, July 23. According to a press release, Lawrence County PSP received a call from a man telling troopers his ex-wife was involved in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend. The caller told troopers the suspect struck the woman with a gun.
Leeper Woman Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Daughter After Finding Empty Alcohol Container
FARMINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Leeper woman was arrested on Thursday afternoon for allegedly assaulting her daughter after she found an empty alcohol container in her room. Court documents show Marienville-based State Police filed criminal charges against 35-year-old Lindsay Nicole Sears, of Leeper, in District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office on Friday, July 26.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Hopefully everyone enjoyed the ample sunshine across the Mid-Ohio Valley this weekend. Despite dealing the low 90s for both days, at least it was not humid. Now, as we start a new week, we will say goodbye to the sunshine and must bring back the muggy air. It is going to feel like a bit of a long week as we will be looking at the chance of showers and storms throughout the week. However, we do need more rain here in the Mid-Ohio Valley and throughout West Virginia as drought conditions persist.
