Letter: Wanted

Someone who is willing to give up their time for a 4–5-month period to an excellent cause - SAFETY CITY. Safety City is just completing its 26th year.

We need someone to take over as coordinator. It is a somewhat demanding position (with no paycheck). The Coordinating is responsible for contacting all the current sponsors, also any potential new ones. The various instructors need to be contacted to make sure they are available for the weeks that are scheduled for that year. Kalmiopsis will give you the weeks available, usually 3 weeks. The Brookings Police must also be notified as well as the City. You are not responsible for the donation money as the City has it in a separate account that is for Safety City expenses only. No one else can dib into the funds.

It is a wonderful program that teaches 5-year-olds entering Kindergarten in pedestrian and life safety. The class is 1 week long — Mon. through Fri. for 2 1/2 hours each morning. The graduates have a short but fun graduation ceremony on Sat. morning at 10 a.m.
