Theatre Tonight: “We Were Friends” -Firelight Theatre Workshop, July 18
Tonight, July 18, is another night that has multiple very cool events that make it difficult to choose. Georgetown store owner, employee accused of selling vape cartridges without permit
A pair of men from Haverhill are facing criminal charges after police say they found the men were selling THC vape cartridges without a license at their Georgetown store. Ram Gupta, 30, and Dinseh Kumar Yadav, 29, were arraigned on charges of distribution of a class C substance, possession with intent to distribute a class C substance, delivering cigarettes to a minor, sale of flavored tobacco and conspiracy to violate drug laws in Haverhill District Court on Wednesday. Both men were released on personal recognizance after posting a $5,000 bail when they were arrested, court records show.
Boylston author's murder mystery puts theater, Tourette syndrome center stage
Author Scott Lyerly says his murder mystery novel "The Last Line" is "the result of two things deeply meaningful to me: theater and Tourette syndrome." Lyerly and his family have had a long involvement with Calliope Productions of Boylston, the town where he lives. When Lyerly appeared in Calliope Productions' presentation of the murder mystery "Recipe for Murder" by J.D. Robins, it whetted his appetite for more acting after a long absence from the stage, but also for writing a murder mystery of his own. Set in a theater.

Senate working on bill to protect healthcare workers in light of Blupoint controversy
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Several nurses at the Pioneer Valley Health Rehabilitation Center in South Hadley are still without some of their pay. The Senate will be debating a healthcare bill on Thursday that could impact this situation, so we spoke with State Senator Jake Oliveira on Wednesday afternoon, who told us that the House has already passed their version of the bill a few weeks ago. Once the Senate passes their version, they are hopeful to come to a compromise before the July 31st deadline.
Worcester Diocese to merge Oxford parishes
WORCESTER — The Diocese of Worcester announced the merger of Saint Roch Parish in Oxford and Saint Ann Parish in North Oxford, effective September 1st. Bishop Robert J. McManus decreed that the new parish will be known as Saint Roch Parish, with Saint Roch Church as the sole worship site.
