City Of Carroll Now Accepting RFPs For Golfview Subdivision Development
In about a month, Carroll city officials could be in a position to select a contractor to proceed with the development of the West Golfview Subdivision. At their Monday, Aug. 12 meeting, the Carroll City Council formally opened the project to proposals from developers. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says they are leaving the requirements flexible to encourage innovative ideas from interested parties.

Knoxville Meet the Panthers Night to be Held Friday
The 2024 Knoxville Meet the Panthers night will be held on Friday. This event is so the community of Knoxville can get a preview of the high school’s fall athletic teams. The evening will consist of a cross country intrasquad race from 5:15 pm – 5:30 pm, a volleyball intrasquad scrimmage from 5:45 pm – 6:15 pm, and a football intrasquad scrimmage at 6:45 pm at Randy Wilson Track. At the football scrimmage there will be a marching band performance, a dance team performance, and introduction of all fall teams.

DYERSVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – A Dyersville woman has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy back in March. Whitaker Ingles was sentenced in Cedar Rapids last Thursday. That’s according to a news release from the Northern District of Iowa U.S. Attorney’s Office. Authorities say Ingles pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 or more grams of cocaine between 2019 and February of 2021. In February of 2021, one of Ingles’ partners distributed cocaine to a young woman in Dubuque, who later died from using the drug. There is no parole in the federal system.
KHAK Cedar Rapids Raises $148K With Two-Day Radiothon.
With its annual radiothon on Thursday and Friday, Townsquare Media KHAK Cedar Rapids, IA (98.1) raised $148,000 for The University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital. “We thank them for their hard work and you for listening and donating.,” the station wrote to listeners on its website. “Thanks also go to the doctors and nurses who help the children every day, all day.”

Walk to Defeat ALS in Coralville raises tens of thousands of dollars
CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) - Sunday, hundreds of people gathered in Coralville to walk in the fight against ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. According to the ALS Association, every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with this disease and someone passes away from it. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. There is currently no cure.
