Grammy-Award winning country star, Lainey Wilson , recovered like a champ after experiencing a wardrobe malfunction on stage over the weekend. On Saturday, July 20, Wilson was closing out day two of the Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Michigan, when she unexpectedly split her pants during her performance.
The "Watermelon Moonshine" singer slipped backstage, microphone still in hand and asked the crowd to give her a minute for a wardrobe change, according to the Detroit Free Press .
“Y’all just about got a real show!” she joked.
"There's a first time for everything and I'm glad it was y'all that I split my pants wide open in front of," she said in a fan-captured TikTok. "You can't make that up!"
After switching out her signature bell bottoms for a pair of replacement jeans, Wilson admitted she would have never noticed the wardrobe issue, had staff members not alerted her.
"I’ll tell you what, try and put on some jeans when you sweatin, it ain’t fun," Wilson added. "You gotta jump in them things.”

A slight wardrobe malfunction didn't stop Wilson from delivering a memorable performance. Later into evening, the CMA Award winner brought a lucky fan onstage for a few words of encouragement. Wilson requested the young fan repeat an empowering mantra before naming her as the "cowgirl of the night."
Wilson rounded out her set with her biggest hits — “Things a Man Oughta Know,” “Heart Like a Truck,” “Watermelon Moonshine” and more. Other performers on Saturday included Old Dominion, Shane Smith and the Saints, Sawyer Brown, and Alexandria Kay.

On Sunday, Wilson shared to social media a new pre-show routine — involving plenty of dancing and squatting — to avoid any future wardrobe mishaps.
"Adding this into my routine before a show so my britches don't rip like they did last night at Faster Horses," she said in an Instagram reel.
