NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Brooklyn woman was arraigned on Wednesday on charges of murder for allegedly fatally running over a woman with her car, prosecutors said.

The incident, captured on video surveillance, happened on Jan. 11 around 7:30 p.m. when Naomi Broomes, 33, allegedly parked her car in a parking lot outside 1210 Loring Ave. at the Louis Pink Houses in East New York, according to court documents.

The video shows a man later determined by investigators as Broomes’ boyfriend walking away from his car,  a 2006 Mercury sedan.

The victim, 24-year-old Shakira Serrano, is seen in the video approaching the car and starting to argue with Broomes who is allegedly in the driver’s seat. Investigators said that Serrano used to be romantically involved with the Broomes’ boyfriend.

Broomes’ boyfriend comes back to the scene and tries to separate the two women, video shows.

During the argument, Serrano is seen kicking and hitting the vehicle, according to court documents.

According to prosecutors, the evidence shows Broome allegedly tried to strike the victim twice with her car but missed.

Serrano then continued to struggle with the man who then shoved her to the ground.

While Serrano was on the floor, Broome allegedly sped with the car and ran over Serrano's entire body, before driving away and leaving her boyfriend with the lifeless victim, according to prosecutors.

Serrano was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

"This defendant allegedly escalated an argument by cold heartedly and intentionally killing a woman with her car then driving away,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said. “This shocking and tragic murder was completely senseless and such violent behavior cannot be tolerated. We will now seek to hold the defendant accountable for her actions."

Broomes was arraigned on an indictment in which she was charged with second-degree murder, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and criminal possession of a weapon.

She was ordered held without bail.

Broomes faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
