    Legendary Brooklyn DJ Mister Cee Passes Away At Age 57

    Calvin LeBrun, better known as DJ Mister Cee, passed away at age 57 on April 10.

    According to People , the Hip Hop legend’s death was confirmed by HOT 97.

    Mister Cee was known for discovering the iconic rapper, The Notorious B.I.G.

    HOT 97, his employer, released a statement that read:

    “As a family at HOT 97 and WBLS, we’re deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Mister Cee. He wasn’t just a DJ. He was a pillar of our stations, bringing joy to countless listeners with his legendary ‘Throwback at Noon’ and ‘Friday Night Live’ sets.”

    The message continued, “Mr. Cee’s influence stretched far beyond the airwaves, shaping the very fabric of NYC’s DJ culture.”

    The message concluded, “Our hearts are heavy as we send our love and condolences to his family and the fans whose lives he touched through his music. Rest easy, Mr. Cee. Your legacy will live forever.”

    Cee’s cause of death is unknown.

    Social Media Expresses Their Sorrow

    Under the Shaderoom’s Instagram report, the Roommates shared their feelings about the DJ’s passing.

    @leofinest said, “Omg if you [grew] up in New York like me, Mr. Cee was a staple on the radio as a kid and teen years and in our 20s, damn [an] icon [passed] in hip hop ”

    “57 is mad young,” @tonybaker wrote.

    @sweetcheeksmeeks shared, “Literally was listening to his throwback segment on 94.7 on Monday.”

    Mister Cee’s Career

    Additionally, ‘The Finisher’ collaborated with Big Daddy Kane. The two hail from the same Brooklyn borough. ‘Mister Cee’s Master Plan’ featured Lebrun. The rapper’s album, ‘Long Live the Kane,’ included the record. Cee met Biggie through DJ 50 Grand and the pair partnered on a demo. ‘The Source’ magazine featured the project in the ‘Unsigned Hype’ column. A much-needed spotlight shone on the project. Additionally, the streets were talking, and
    Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs eventually called. Puff signed B.I.G. to Uptown Records. After leaving the label and starting his own, Bad Boy, Diddy brought the rapper with him. In 1994, Lebrun associate executive produced Biggie’s first album, ‘Ready to Die.’ He went on to work for HOT 97, showcasing his impeccable DJing ability daily.
