Green Lane Coffee Gets the Green Light in Upper West Side

Green Lane Coffee got its start during the fall of 2020, catering to crowds of busy professionals who found themselves working from home. Many coffee-drinkers have since returned to in-person work or even moved neighborhoods, but the locally-sourced coffee and pastries from Green Lane Coffee have become a part of some customers’ daily routines.

Green Lane Coffee’s original location in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood closed down last year a little after two years in business, Greenpointers reported. The intense competition between cafés in Greenpoint made it difficult for Green Lane Coffee to grab a hold on that particular neighborhood.

Owner Dmitry Miroshnichenko , however, was undeterred. His other location of Green Lane Coffee in the Upper East Side has been successful; so, Miroshnichenko is trying his hand at another café, this time in a new neighborhood: the Upper West Side.

“The concept of Green Lane Coffee is to give local people locally-sourced, good quality products,” Miroshnichenko said in a phone interview with What Now NY . “More and more younger people are coming to the Upper West Side, and I feel like it is the right time to bring Green Lane Coffee to the area. It is going to be a challenge, but it will be an interesting addition to the neighborhood.”

Green Lane Coffee will continue to work with Brooklyn-based roaster Parlor Coffee to bring locally crafted coffee into both of its stores. All pastries served in Green Lane Coffee are made in Brooklyn and Queens. Green Lane Coffee is designed for busy people on-the-go, but Miroshnichenko attests that the cafés’ quick service will never take away from the quality of their products.

West Side Rag reported on Green Lane Coffee’s plan to revamp the space which was previously occupied by Gertrude . Miroshnichenko told What Now NY of his intentions to refresh the space and make it feel like the other Green Lane Coffee. No major renovations to the space are planned at this time.

While Miroshnichenko and others are sad to see Gertrude go, he hopes Green Lane Coffee will be welcomed as a new addition to the neighborhood.

Green Lane Coffee in the Upper West Side is expected to open around mid-May.
