Former Jeopardy! champion Winston Nguyen was arrested in front of his students after an investigation was launched into sexualized images he allegedly shared through social media.
Last week, the math teacher and ex-con was handcuffed in front of his classroom full of students at the St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn Heights, leaving concerned parents searching for answers. Winston was a previous gameshow champion appearing in two Jeopardy! episodes, where he won the season finale of Season 30 in 2017.
Nguyen wasn’t charged but he remains a suspect in the ongoing investigation. A spokeswoman for Saint Ann’s said the DA’s office "confirmed for us that Winston is a suspect in an ongoing investigation related to the dissemination of intimate images via social media," according to reports by the Daily Beast .

She added: "Upon his arrest on Thursday he was immediately placed on leave by the school and he remains on leave." The head of the Brooklyn private school Kenyatte Reid sent an email out to parents revealing that the math teacher was arrested as a suspect in an ongoing investigation and that he’s prohibited from contacting anyone in the school community and from visiting the school campus.
Reid went on to ask any families with additional information about Winston's "suspicious activity on Snapchat or any social media" to come forward with information. The head of the prestigious private school - so exclusive they even turned away Hollywood star Matt Damon's children - went on to apologize to students and parents in a school-wide email. He wrote: "This incident is very disturbing to all of us. We pride ourselves on our amazing faculty and a learning environment rooted in trust."
And while Nguyen was released last Saturday, this is not his first run-in with the law. In 2017, Nguyen served time in New York City's largest jail on Riker's island after being found guilty for scamming an elderly couple. Nguyen was arrested for stealing more than $300,000 from the pair and using the stolen cash to pay for expensive ballet tickets and vacations to Florida.
