Jo Koy has shared his opinion on modern rap music in a viral stand-up clip.

Taken from the Live in Brooklyn Netflix comedy special, the comedian takes jabs at rapper Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan while uplifting the talents of the late Notorious B.I.G.

“Biggie died 30 years ago, to this day you play a Biggie song and it still f**kin shuts down the club, don’t act like it doesn’t,” exclaimed the 53-year-old as his audience cheered.

“And don’t get me wrong, the mumble rap [is] catchy but I’m just saying… What the f**k are you saying?” he questioned. Koy continued to do his best impression of the two rappers, mimicking their 2 014 “Lifestyle” collaboration.

“Just f**king mumbled and then said one word! F**k you,” shouted Koy. “Shut the f**k up! I’m sorry.” “Lifestyle” then played as Koy continued his awkward impersonation.

The Easter Sunday star continued to double down, “Hey if I sound old, I sound old, but I’m sorry. You play Biggie it’ll shut any f**king place down,” as he commanded the DJ to spin music from the Brooklyn rapper. “Hypnotize” then began to blare from the speakers.

“Biggie made anything sound cool. If he breathed heavy, that was a lyric…Whatever he said made sense. He was a poet. And if you didn’t know, now you know.

Despite laughter and cheers from his live audience, fans on the internet did not find the bit as funny. Responses to the viral moment included teasing Koy for attempting to revive a stale conversation around mumble rap and using a decade-old song to make his point.

Live in Brooklyn was released on the streamer earlier this month. It is described by Netflix as featuring the actor “sharing his unfiltered opinions on social media, aging and moving into a new phase of his life; his zaddy phase.”
