Nets do not make a pick in the 2024 NBA Draft despite various reports

The Brooklyn Nets were the only team to not have a pick in the 2024 NBA Draft that began with the first round on Wednesday and ended with the second round on Thursday. After trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks on Tuesday, there was a fair amount of reporting that suggested that Brooklyn wasn’t done.

The Draft ended on Thursday without the Nets making a single pick and without them trading back into the Draft despite plenty of teams moving picks around. There are bound to be some mixed reviews by those in the Nets fanbase pertaining to Brooklyn standing pat instead of trying to get something going with this draft class.

After trading Bridges away, there was reporting from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype that any of the Nets’ veterans were not safe from trades given that the team is heading into a full rebuild. However, once the Draft came to a close, there was ultimately no deals for any of the six veterans on Brooklyn’s roster that other teams were reportedly interested in.

That doesn’t mean that those players are no longer on the trading block, but it does mean that the Nets will have to bid their time until the right deal comes along for players like Dorian Finney-Smith and others. Until then, Brooklyn will have free-agency (begins on June 30th), undrafted free-agents and summer league to worry about moving forward.
