F train service in Brooklyn will shut down on select dates during summer months: MTA

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Due to upcoming renovations, Brooklyn F train service will be suspended on certain weekends, the MTA announced Saturday.

“The work is part of the final stages of the Authority’s Culver Line Signal Modernization project,” a statement from the MTA read. “Fully replacing signals on the Culver Line from Church Avenue ​​to West 8 Street New York Aquarium ​​in Brooklyn to improve reliability and resilience, and removing and decommissioning equipment that has reached the end of their useful life to improve overall customer service. “

On select weekend dates, the F train will operate between Jamaica-179 Street and Chruch Avenue Stations.

Free shuttle buses will operate between Church Avenue and Coney Island—Stillwell Avenue to provide service to closed stations.

Impacted dates:

• Friday, July 5 to Monday, July 8
• Friday, July 12 to Monday, July 15
• Friday, August 9 to Monday, August 12
• Friday, August 16 to Monday, August 19
• Friday, August 23 to Monday, August 26
• Friday, August 30 to Tuesday, September 3 (Labor Day Weekend)
• Friday, September 6 to Monday, September 9;
• Friday, September 13 to Monday, September 16

In addition to weekend service, F train service will be impacted at all times during the following dates.

• Monday, July 1 to Saturday, July 13: Coney Island-bound ​F train service will operate expressly between Church Avenue and Kings Highway at all times.
• Monday, August 5 to Saturday, August 17: Manhattan-bound ​ F train service operates expressly between Kings Highway ​ and Church Avenue ​at all times.
