Are 76ers the top destination for Nets forward?

The Philadelphia 76ers are paying close attention to the situation of Brooklyn Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith.

Smith spent his first full season with the Nets in 2024, but he doesn't fit their rebuilding timeline. The Sixers are in need of a starting power forward, which the 31-year-old could potentially supply. Although Smith and 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. are the same height, the Nets veteran weighs roughly 20 pounds more with a stronger defensive skillset.

HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported on Philadelphia interest in Smith, writing, "The Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers are among the teams with interest in trading for Finney-Smith, league sources told HoopsHype. The 76ers have been scouring the trade market for a forward who could potentially start for them, league sources say, and Finney-Smith would fit that criteria."

Smith averaged 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds on 42.1% shooting in 68 games with the Nets last season, meaning it would not take a major package to acquire him. Scotto later reported the Sixers could use forward KJ Martin in their package along with draft capital.
