This handbag designer to the stars wants $3.25M for his Brooklyn townhouse

Here’s a home that a Brooklyn buyer can put right in their bag.

Celeb handbag designer Brandon Blackwood is parting ways with his treasured Bedford-Stuyvesant townhouse in search of more space to nurture his creativity, The Post has learned.

Blackwood initially moved into the four-story, two-family property at 44 Madison Ave. as a renter in 2020 — and fell so in love with the “open and airy” renovation that he asked its former owners if he could buy it, the designer told The Post. He closed on the home in September 2021 for $2.86 million and listed it on Wednesday for $3.25 million.

“It was my first house and I’m so attached to it but I need more space,” he said, adding that he now heads a family of three dogs.

A rising star in the fashion scene, Blackwood gained fame for his “End Systemic Racism” tote bags highlighting the Black Lives Matter movement. His designs have also been photographed with celebs including Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Solange Knowles, Kim Kardashian and more. One of them also featured by Saweetie in the video for her song “Fast (Motion).”

The 4,200-square-foot townhouse features a four-bedroom, 3.5-bath owner’s triplex with basement storage over a separate garden duplex that can potentially provide rental income.

In the owner’s unit, an open floor plan on the first floor has marble countertops, designer appliances and, perhaps most importantly, an extra-large wine fridge. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors open to a deck and a backyard with a fire pit and a peach tree.

A glass staircase leads to the second floor, where a primary suite with a spa-like bath is supplemented by two additional bedrooms and a laundry room. The top floor has a fourth bedroom or den, along with two terraces boasting treetop views.

“The layout is so conducive for modern Brooklyn living,” said Melissa Leifer, a real estate salesperson with Keller Williams NYC, who listed the property. “There’s ample space if you work from home or if you have kids.”

The two-bedroom, 2.5-bath duplex spread also has an open floor plan and shared backyard access, along with a washer/dryer and a recreation room.

Blackwood said he hasn’t rented the garden unit out, however. Instead, he used it as his first office, before relocating his staff to Soho — and most recently as a styling studio and a crash pad for guests.

He lives in the upper triplex, where he enjoys hosting dinner parties in the decked-out kitchen.

The peach tree, which Blackwood said is currently blooming, has a presence on his Instagram, which courts some 605,000 followers , and has provided plenty of fruit to give away.

“Every summer I go to the office or to see friends and bring them a s–t ton of peaches,” he quipped.
