The Department of Transportation is wrapping up its public survey today, seeking final input on the future redesign of Grand Army Plaza. The project aims to enhance connectivity between the plaza and Prospect Park, while also improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety. The redesign project has been in the works for several years. The DOT has now narrowed down the options to two potential designs. Option A proposes a consolidated Flatbush Avenue, which would streamline traffic patterns and improve safety. Option B focuses on creating a continuous public space by connecting the arch to Prospect Park. Both design options incorporate raised crosswalks and aim to reduce the number of crossings and traffic signals, addressing concerns related to traffic congestion and pedestrian and cyclist safety. The survey also includes proposed changes for Vanderbilt and Underhill avenues, with design options for these streets also featured. In a statement, a DOT spokesperson said: "By improving the connection between Grand Army Plaza and Prospect Park, we could bring transformative improvements for pedestrians and cyclists, while simplifying travel routes for drivers and making the space safer for everyone." The DOT plans to present the final design concepts to the community later this year. Then, they will seek capital funding to bring the project to life. The survey can be
