    Park Center routs Rogers and Rebels sweep Blaine

    It was a busy week for the Park Center Pirates and Champlin Park Rebels last week. The Pirates boys and girls basketball teams both grabbed wins on Feb. 7, while both Champlin Park teams defeated Blaine on the same day.

    Champlin Park

    Champlin Park boys basketball added a dominant win last week in their only game, beating Blaine 97-63 at home to improve their conference record to 6-8, 11-10 overall.

    Amory Peterson scored 17 points in the win, followed by Gavin Walter with 16 and Kwatamah Silikpoh with 15. Jevon Kiros scored 11 and both Kyler Pust and Mo Jalloh added 10 each.

    Champlin Park boys basketball will play two games the following week, traveling to Centennial and Totino-Grace on Feb. 14 and 16, respectively.

    The Champlin Park girls opened last week with a 74-54 loss to Mounds View on Feb. 5, with the Rebels’ efforts led by a 15-point performance from Nyomi Crushshon. Mounds View’s win in large part came by the work of Bria Stenstorm, who scored 44 points.

    The girls responded with a close 49-47 win over Blaine on Feb. 7, improving their conference record to 7-8, 8-14 overall. Savannah Belongia led on points with 14.

    Rebels girls basketball will play two conference opponents the following week, hosting Centennial and Totino-Grace on Feb. 14 and 16.

    Park Center

    The Park Center boys responded to a rare loss the previous week with a 90-70 win over Rogers on Feb. 7 in their only game last week. Casmir Chavis starred in the home win, scoring 39 points against Rogers as Park Center improved to 19-2 this season.

    Park Center boys basketball will play two games the following week, traveling to Spring Lake Park and hosting Andover on Feb. 14 and 16.

    Park Center girls basketball continued its own positive journey this season last week with a 67-59 road win over Rogers on Feb. 7. The win improved Park Center to a 7-7 conference record, 11-11 overall. It also extended the Pirates’ recent win streak to five games, stretching back to Jan. 26.

    Park Center boys basketball will play two games the following week, hosting Spring Lake Park and traveling to Andover on Feb. 14 and 16.
