ROCKPORT — The Rockport Public Library will be exhibiting art by South Hope resident Deb Vendetti, from July 2-30, in the library’s lower level. The show entitled “Graphite: Drawn To Maine and the Maritimes” will showcase over 35 years of Vendetti’s drawings, including picturesque and popular locations like Monhegan Island, Ducktrap in Lincolnville, and Johnson Bay in New Brunswick.

UNION — Music lovers of all ages will enjoy music of many styles during the celebration weekend of Union’s 250th anniversary in July, according to Union Sestercentennial Committee Co-chairs Keith Siegel and Argy Nestor, in a news release. Amtrak Downeaster to get $50M high-tech control system to improve safety
The Amtrak Downeaster train route in southern Maine will be getting a $51 million upgrade that includes automated technology to improve safety. Amtrak and CSX Transportation, in partnership with the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, said this week they would install a positive train control system, or PTC, which is designed to automatically control train speeds and movements.
