Ohio GOP governor hopefuls use national convention as springboard for 2026
MILWAUKEE - Ohio Republicans eyeing the governor's mansion were unified on one point this week: The 2024 election isn't about 2026. But it also didn't hurt to spend several days in Wisconsin rubbing shoulders with their fellow Republicans − and in one case, getting the spotlight on a national stage. ...
Why this Ohio county is still in court over Dominion voting machines and the 2020 election
COLUMBUS, Ohio – While most the nation looks to the looming 2024 presidential election, the Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday sent Stark County back to trial to deal with vestiges of the vaguely defined election conspiracy theories that marred the last one. On Jan. 6, 2021, as hundreds of...

Republicans decry early voting but urge supporters to do it anyway
LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — The chairman of the Ohio Republican Party has hit the message hard to his delegation on a daily basis: It's OK to vote early. In fact, it's encouraged. It's a message that former President Donald Trump — usually the loudest critic in the room when it comes to the integrity of the early vote — has also hit every night via video at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. “The way we win is to swamp them,” Trump says. “If we swamp them, they can't cheat. It just doesn't work out. But if you can't make it [on Election Day], you need to make a plan, register, and vote any way possible.” That message directly conflicts with a plank in the just-approved, scaled-back Republican platform, which calls for a return to strictly same-day voting, a decision that is typically made on a state-by-state basis. The platform also calls for mandatory voter identification, proof of citizenship, and more sophisticated paper ballots.

Big Lots Shutting Down Stores Amid Financial Uncertainty
Big Lots is planning to shutter around 40 stores as the company opens up about their ability to continue. I've been shopping at Big Lots for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I could spend hours in the toy aisle, and even as a teenager, I spent quite a bit of time thumbing through the DVD and Blu-ray selections. My wife and I still shop at Big Lots on a regular basis today. It's safe to say that it's one of my all-time favorite stores. Need groceries? Done. Kitchenware? Easy. How about some furniture? They've got all kinds of options out on the floor.
