The Duke Energy Foundation is awarding a $20,000 grant to the South Central Community Action Program to provide support for low income families impacted by the storms that hit the Hoosier State June 25th. The Bloomington Based nonprofit, serves Monroe, Morgan, Owen, and Brown counties. Of the approximately 115,000 power outages across Duke Energy’s system from the storm, roughly half were in Monroe County.

Accused of trying get jury list, Brown Co. commissioner pleads guilty to drunken driving
Brown County commissioners’ president Jerry Pittman has pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge and received a one-year suspended jail sentence. Pittman, 75, is serving the last year of his second term on the rural county’s Board of Commissioners. He lost his bid for a third term when Tim J. Clark beat him by 89 votes in the May Republican primary.
