Mischief at Family Dollar Forces Closure: Cleveland Ward 4 Community Suffers

Cleveland, OH. - As people struggle to get work and find jobs to make a living, feed their families, and continue to be law-abiding citizens, other folks who are not inclined to live that way appear to be destroying the fabric of our communities.

Crime is a major issue in our communities. People want to be safe.

This morning (approximately 10:00 am), in the Cleveland Ward Four community, Family Dollar employees near 130th Street and Buckeye Road (12915 Buckeye Cleveland, OH 44120)closed the store due to an apparent break-in and damage to the property. As employees and the manager waited outside the store, customers like myself attempted to enter the store and found a sign on the door that read, "This Store is Closed."

I spoke with a team leader who did not want to be identified by name. Sitting in his car, he appeared saddened by what he witnessed. "I don't understand this mess. People must stop breaking into places. Some don't understand why our community is a food and business desert. We need our stores," said the worker. Members of the Moreland Street Club were present. The members added, "and they wonder why businesses and people are uprooting from our community. We can't have anything," scoffed the Members of the Moreland Association.

While we were there, the police had not yet come, and no news media was there to cover this story.

According to its website, Family Dollar is an American variety store chain with over 8000 stores in the United States.
