Cleveland, OH. - The newly elected President of the National Congress of Black Women, Renee Williams-Jackson, is taking the bull by the horns. Although she was recently installed as President on Saturday, July 27, 2024, she is already garnering attention and making a stand about how much she will move the National Congress of Black Women of Greater Cleveland Chapter organization forward.

Moving the pendulum forward is her primary focus. "I want people to know that we are part of this group. She said we have some exemplary women that make up the National Congress of Black Women." President Williams-Jackson acknowledged several women in the group: Wendolyn Grant, former Councilwoman at-large of Bedford Heights; Dana D. Anderson, business owner and Councilwoman of District Four, Maple Heights; Dr. Elizabeth Blackman of the Matriots; and many others. "Although several National Congress of Black Women members are elected officials, other women are just as notable. They are everyday people willing to give their time to serve their communities," Williams-Jackson added.

During her acceptance speech, President Williams-Jackson told the crowd, "NCBW, we stands on the shoulders of Shirley Chisholm and C. (Cynthia) Delores Tucker, and our premise is: We train, support and nurture Black Women for leadership roles. We provide them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive in political arenas traditionally dominated by men. Through mentorship, training programs, and advocacy, we will cultivate a pipeline of capable and confident women ready to make their mark on history."

As she continued, President-Elect Williams Jackson closed with a thought-provoking roar as she reiterated a message she heard on a local news channel: "As a reporter stated on MSNBC, some people will open the door for us and leave it open, and others will open the door and then close it. Ladies, it is TIME!! This time is our season! We must take care of ourselves. As Shirley Chisholm stated, We will walk into the room where decisions are made. We will pull out a chair at the table. We will take our seats!"

As per their national website, The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) is a (501)(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NCBW serves as a nonpartisan advocate on issues impacting the appointment of women at all levels of government to enhance the participation of women of color in the educational, political, economic, and social spheres.
