BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — A psychiatric residency program has been established in Chico to support mental health in Butte County, but is facing a challenge in its first year. “Between our program and the one that’s being started at Oroville Hospital, we’ll have about 40 Psychiatrists per year coming into the curriculum, serving patients in this area, and then hopefully a good 50% of them could stay," said Kristy Bird MaKieve, CEO of Healthy Rural California.
