    Lightning believed to be cause of Brownsburg residence fire

    BROWNSBURG, Ind. — A large residential fire in Brownsburg is now under investigation, with authorities believing that it was likely caused by lightning.

    The Brownsburg Fire Territory was called to a home Thursday alongside firefighters with the Washington Township/Avon Fire Department. Authorities did not provide the specific street name where the residence is located.

    BFT said the occupants of the home were not injured and no firefighters were injured while responding.

    While the exact cause remains under investigation, BFT said it believes lightning was likely the cause. The family has been speaking with victims’ assistance to assist them with the next steps after Thursday’s fire.
