Library Summer Reading Program Coming To An End
One of the most popular activities each year at the Greenville Public Library is the summer reading program. The 2024 program ends Thursday, August 1. Library Director Jo Keillor reminded kids that logs need to be turned in on August 1 to get their final DQ Dilly Bar coupon. Adults need to have their slips turned in on Thursday so they can announce prizes on Friday, August 2, no purchase necessary. A Kindle Fire is the grand prize.

Boaters and Mississippi River observers may notice a handful of new temporary islands and sandbars in the river near Grafton. The Army Corps of Engineers recently completed regular dredging of the river. GLEN CARBON - A man from Athens, Ill. faces multiple charges after assaulting an EMS worker and more during an incident of public indecency on Old Troy Road in Glen Carbon. Daniel G. Adams Jr., 43, of Athens, Ill., was charged with aggravated assault of an EMS worker (a Class 4 felony), public indecency (a Class A misdemeanor), obstructing a peace officer (a Class A misdemeanor) and being a pedestrian under influence of alcohol or drugs (a petty offense).
