SYFL Late Registration & Equipment Pick Up Today
The Salem Youth Football League will be having late registration tonight from 5-7:30. You can also pick up your equipment tonight as well. Practices will be next week starting Monday for 3rd-8th grade from 6-8pm. The 3rd and 4th grade will open up their season on Saturday, September 7th. With the JV and Varsity will open Sunday the 8th at Mascoutah.

Event: 15th annual Golf Tournament
GREENVILLE — The Greenville Athletic Association is hosting its 15th Annual Golf Tournament to support the athletic programs within the Greenville Central School District. The four-person scramble tournament, hosted at Thunderhart Golf in Freehold, is sure to be a day of great golf, excellent food, prizes, and fun! Lunch and registration begins at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The fee is $120 per player and includes greens fees, cart, a light lunch, dinner, donation and a door prize.

Boaters and Mississippi River observers may notice a handful of new temporary islands and sandbars in the river near Grafton. The Army Corps of Engineers recently completed regular dredging of the river. Instead of dumping sediment near the banks of the river as usual, the corps opted to create ephemeral land near where the Mississippi and Illinois rivers converge.

A recent disaster simulation exercise that included scenario in Grafton was a success, according to the city’s mayor. The Missouri National Guard Mobile River Bridge Company was in Grafton as part of a mock New Madrid Fault earthquake response exercise in which they were to practice restoring the ability to cross the river by conducting rafting operations in Grafton.
