HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral)—The chair of the Texas Democratic party, who is from Brownsville, says the Democrats now have a critical decision for not only our country but also our world.

We spoke with Gilberto Hinojosa about who he thinks should pick the candidate to replace Biden.

“We have an opportunity to go to the Democratic National Convention in one month and have the democratic delegates at that convention select who they want to be the democratic nominee for president of the United States,” Hinojosa said.

He says the delegates come from all over the United States and from all walks of life. He believes they should be the ones who make the pick for nominee.

He hopes those who can vote will want someone who would be best for our state.

“You need to have a candidate that will have the best interest of texas in mind,” Hinojosa said.

Hinojosa believes the right pick to replace this man as a nominee could be good news for his party in this state.

“In every election cycle for the last 12 years, we’ve cut our margins in half the way we’re now down to five-point margin in the presidential race,” he said. “We have an opportunity to win in Texas if we have a candidate that’s going to be strong, that’s going to be fighting for issues that are important to Texans.”

Hinojosa feels the nominee is going to have to be someone voters would want to pick over Donald Trump.
