BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A Valley-duo has been announced as a finalist in H-E-B’s 11th annual Quest for Texas Best.

H-E-B has chosen its top 10 finalists from across the state in search for the best Texas-made products.

The top 10 finalists were chosen from nearly 500 submissions from more than 118 cities across the Lone Star State.

Brownsville natives Gerardo and Daisy Alcazar have advanced to the final round and will face-off other small businesses to claim H-E-B’s Texas Best title.

The duo will showcase their homemade frozen treats, La Pale Frozen Fruit Bar, in honor of their Mexican family tradition dating back to the 1930s.

La Pale Frozen Fruit Bar comes in traditional Mexican-inspired flavors including mango chamoy, lime, strawberry, mango and watermelon.

The bars are made from natural fruits and are dairy-free, gluten free and vegan.

Top finalists in the competition, including the Alcazar duo, will present their products in front of a panel of judges to determine four winning products.

The grand prize winner will be named the Texas Best and will have their product sold at H-E-B locations statewide.

“Small businesses drive innovation and keep our communities vibrant, which is why we are dedicated to finding and supporting the best small businesses in Texas,” said James Harris, Sr. Director of Diversity & Inclusion and Supplier Diversity for H-E-B.

The Texas Best title will be chosen on August 9.
