‘The Music Man’ to hit Lyric stage July 12-21
The next production at Brownwood’s Lyric Theatre is Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” scheduled for eight performances July 12-21. According the Lyric website, “The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.”
Brownwood Community Garden Report for June 2024
Out with the old. In with the new. Lots of changes in the garden this month. Some of the plants that were producing during the cooler temperatures earlier in the month began to show their dislike of our hot Texas temperatures as things began to warm up toward the end of the month. It was time to make some changes.
MICHAEL BUNKER: Summertime Musing on the Apocalypse
Our morning walks are always pleasant, even when the heat is up the way it is now. We walk just as the light starts to brighten the sky the slightest bit, and usually, there is a breeze, too. When we turn back towards home it is just light enough that the birds have taken over downtown as their province, and they zoom in over the street and alight on the power lines, and swoop down into the park or the green grass around the courthouse, and chase themselves flittingly up to the top of the Old Jail or the Brownwood Hotel.
July Workshops Offered at Art Center
