BOSSIER CITY, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — For this week’s Destination Louisiane, Grab your weapons and bring a friend for an empowering experience in the East Bank District.

It’s one of the first axe-throwing bars in Louisiana. You wield a sharp object of choice and try to hit moving targets.

“It’s something unique to do for the Shreveport-Bossier area. We teach you exactly how everything works. We’ve got 18 different games that you can play. We will have someone walk you through the entire process and teach you how to throw. We’ve got throwing stars if the axes are too heavy. So we’re here to help, especially when someone comes in who has never done it before,” said Austin Hazel, manager of Bayou Axe Throwing Co.

Bayou Axe Throwing Co. in Bossier City offers a fun experience with exercise plus power over your enemies, such as the moles in Whack-a-Mole. Attendees can scroll through 18 different games projected on the wooden background.

You can also bring your own throws, such as frequent visitors John and Kaylie Spears from Toledo Bend.

“You say she always beats you. Yeah, most of the time. I give her a run for her money. After a few drinks and a little bit of food, I start taking over. No way,” said John Spears.

The couple enjoys visiting the venue often for date nights over friendly competition.

“We’re competitive,” said Kaylie Spears. “Yeah, we compete over drinks, but who is paying for the food?” said John.

Kaylie has been practicing her knife throws for about four years. They share advice for new throwers.

“Don’t be afraid to send it,” said John. “We were really bad when we started so don’t let that intimidate you,” Kaylie said.

Bayou Axe Throwing Co. also features live music from Thursday through Saturday, inside the family-friendly atmosphere of the East Bank.

“We’ve got multiple things for families to do. It’s very safe to bring your kids out. On a date night, you can come in, throw some axes, listen to live music outside, go to one of the breweries next door. It’s a lot of fun. You can sit outside, grab a drink from Seventh Tap, oysters from the Frozen Pirogue or po-boys from BeauxJax Crafthouse,” said Hazel.

For $24 an hour, you can book your session to throw axes and more in Bossier City.
