Preston County man receives federal child pornography charges

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A Bruceton Mills man has been indicted after allegedly requesting sexually explicit content from multiple minors.

According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Stephen David Seeger, 45, was recently arrested in California and charged with coercion and enticement of a minor for sex and child pornography.

U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld said that Seeger was allegedly communicating with a 13-year-old girl online and had persuaded her to produce sexually explicit images and videos. Ihlenfeld said that Seeger had requested images and videos from a 15-year-old girl as well.

“This case serves as a reminder to parents to be vigilant in monitoring their children’s online activity,” Ihlenfeld said. “Tonight is a good night to look at your child’s phone and determine if they are in contact with anyone who could cause them harm.”

The release said that Seeger will soon be returned to West Virginia to answer to the charges and faces up to 30 years in federal prison for the production of child pornography as well as additional time for the charges of enticement and possession of child pornography.

The FBI, West Virginia State Police and the Preston County Sheriff’s Office investigated this case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberley Crockett is prosecuting on behalf of the government.
