Mr. Wayne Cranfield Sharp passed away at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco, Texas on July 18, 2024, at the age of 85. Mr. Sharp was a resident of Thornton, Texas. He was born to William Emory and Flora Bell (Moncrief) Sharp in Kosse, Texas on April 22, 1939. Wayne was a graduate of the class of 1958 from Thornton High School. While growing up in the Thornton/Kosse area, he worked on the farm with his father who was a sharecropper and raised cattle. After school, he was a journeyman mechanic. He went on to work at Skyview as a state correction officer in Rusk, Texas for twenty years from which he retired.

Temple woman accused of shooting at women in Killeen faces trial
A Temple woman who is accused of shooting at two women in Killeen during a child custody-related incident almost four years ago, is set to face a jury this week. Kyia Brownlee, who also is known as Kyia Withers, 30, was indicted by a Bell County grand jury on Dec. 16, 2020, on two charges: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a second-degree felony, and deadly conduct by discharge of firearm, a third-degree felony.
