A drag boat race driver died Sunday in a solo accident at the “Duel on the Brazos” event, according to Waco Police. The event, hosted by the Southern Drag Boat Association, ran Saturday through Sunday at Brazos Park East, 3516 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The fatal incident was reported to officers working security at the event at 1:20 p.m., according to police.

TEMPLE, Texas — Temple Fire and Rescue responded to a significant brush fire near Landfill Road on Saturday afternoon. The fire, reported at 2:37 p.m., was located behind the Solid Waste Facility, where crews found heavy smoke and flames emanating from a large brush pile composed of debris from recent storms.
