Brundidge celebrates Independence Day

Although, the mercury was doing its best the keep up with the rising temperature, people came out to celebrate America’s Independence in parade fashion in Brundidge on Saturday afternoon.

Brundidge Mayor Isabell Boyd said the Brundidge Independence Day Parade is held annually on the Saturday before the Fourth of July.

“We all look forward to celebrating Independence Day with friends and neighbors on Main Street in downtown Brundidge,” Boyd said. “We thank all those who braved the heat to celebrate Independence Day in Brundidge. It was a fun parade and we welcomed a large number of representative city/county queens of different ages who will be honored in the Peanut Festival in Dothan in the fall.”

Boyd said a most special person in the Brundidge Independence Day Parade was George “Duck” Sneed who was honored as the parade’s grand marshal.

Sneed is a graduate of Pike County High School, a military veteran and chief of the Brundidge Fire Department.
