Terry Boldt believes the fish kill is due to ash in the water from wood burning as construction is underway at a nearby development. On Thursday, July 18, Brunswick County Public Utilities experienced a bypass of treated chlorinated wastewater at the Shallotte Wastewater Treatment Plant, 349 Forest Street Extension in Shallotte. A release noted it occurred when a construction-related incident impacted installation of a new force main.
