Ice cream lovers can start buying this new pink, blue, and purple-specked cupcake-flavored topping immediately in bundle packs on Amazon, or Instacart is offering individual bottles starting at $2.49. The topping freezes in just seconds when it's poured over ice cream, creating a beautiful, breakable, semi-crunchy ice cream shell that's worthy of an Instagram picture and at least a thousand words. Perhaps most unsurprisinly, the new Smuckers Unicorn Magic Shell topping is the number one new release in ice cream products across American Amazon shopping today, and people are joyously scooping up 8-packs of the fun stuff out of excitement and a little fear that it'll disappear quickly.

"I just bought two eight-packs," one food enthusiast from Queens, New York told us. "I have my kids at home all day, every day and if everyone is good about getting their homework done, helping with the laundry, and doing chores? Well, then we do ice cream sundae Sundays for all three of my elementary and middle school-age kids. They love it, and we all look forward to it. If I had more pantry space or extra kitchen cabinets you better believe I'd buy even more. When is Costco going to start selling this stuff in full gallon bottles? That's what I really want to know."

I'd pair something birthday cake or cupcake flavored with simple, basic ice cream scoops so you get to really focus on the Magic Shell as a flavor," one Michelin-starred chef told us by text, asking for his name to be omitted. "I might catch a lot of flack for saying this stuff is cool because I've made a whole career out of advanced, sophisticated gastronomy, but I'd be lying to you if I said my 12-year-old doesn't really, really want a bottle. And sure, I could probably figure out a way to make some version of a hard shell topping in my own kitchen, but for a few bucks a bottle it's just way cheaper and more fun to pour it on and enjoy the trend. But seriously, go with a really nice quality vanilla, fresh strawberry, or even a classic black cherry ice cream or gelato to pour this over. And then obviously make some kind of TikTok out of it so the world can see the freezing part."
