    Free McDonald's McFlurries This Week

    2021-05-02

Good news for those hankering for a rich ice cream treat.

McDonald's is offering a totally FREE Caramel Brownie McFlurry this week to anyone who has ever mistaken the McFlurry spoon for a straw, and no, we're not kidding. The promo, which runs from May 3 through 9 helps McDonald's corporarte offices in the United States apologize for their extremely confusing McFlurry spoons while also getting customers excited for the iconic fast food chain's newest iteration of the classic cool treat: Caramel Brownie.

It's something that's expected to go over well across Texas, especially the Houston area, one of McDonald's top-performing metro regions in the United States. "On a personal level, all ice cream is delicious," explains Jayden Carmichael, a 19-year-old from Houston who prides himself on having visited just about every McDonald's in Eastern Texas. "But when ice cream, especially a McFlurry, is free? That's going to be a hit. I bet the Mickey D's around Houston are going to have lines at the drive through windows like wild."

Heck, McDonald's will even deliver the free McFlurry from May 3 through 9 when you make a $15 or greater through Uber Eaters. But seriously, you don't have to make any purchase at all if you just show up to McDonald's on your own and have their app downloaded to your phone.

If it seems simply too good to be true, it's not, and McDonald's released a very public and very exciting press release on the matter below:

"Our McFlurry spoon is ~misunderstood~ and every true McDonald’s fan understands the struggle of confusing it for a straw. While we can’t change the iconic hollow spoon (a key piece of the mixing process), we can help ease the sting of your facepalm upon figuring out how to use it."

It's nice to see a brand acknowledging and trying to repair a perceived public fail, isn't it?

"How? We’re giving everyone who has ever even thought the spoon was a straw...so yeah, everyone...a FREE Regular Size Caramel Brownie McFlurry on May 4 at participating McDonald’s. Don’t want to leave the house? From May 3-9, you can get a FREE Regular Size Caramel Brownie McFlurry when you make a minimum $15 purchase exclusively on McDelivery with Uber Eats**.

Consider it our way of making that salty moment of confusion just a little sweeter.

    McDonald's Brownie McFlurry in TaiwanMcDonald's

Here's a secret though -- did you know McDonald's has been test-driving their brownie McFlurry in Asian markets for years already? In fact, it's a regular menu staple at McDonald's across Taiwan, with locals there raving about the mashup of rich flavors and textures that can't be beat. Better yet, it's already the best-selling McDonald's dessert across Malaysia, so you know it's going to be delicious.

Depending on your preferred Texas-area McDonald's locations, the normal retail price for these treats runs about $2.89. Getting one free makes it priceless, though.

Are you a fan of McDonald's McFlurries and excited for this frosty dessert freebie, especially in the brand new flavor? We'd love to hear your feedback in the comments section below.
