Hey New Yorkers, CVS is Giving Out Free Candy

And it's not even Halloween!

• All CVS locations offering free gifts with ExtraCare Rewards
• This week's freebie is a bag of Gold Emblem Candy

• The entire state of New York is eligible so long as they download the CVS app and join ExtraCare Rewards, both are free
• Largest CVS in NYC is in Times Square, locals say it has the best candy selection of all the store locations

Attention CVS shoppers across the great state of New York— you're officially eligible for a free full-size bag of Gold Emblem Bagged Candy (that's the CVS store brand if you're wondering). All you have to do is download the CVS app and be an ExtraCare member, both free things, to score this week's sweet deal. CVS is also offering a new freebie each week for their app users and ExtraCare members, and all you have to do is open it every now and then (well, at least once a week).

Additionally, CVS’ ExtraCare members will now be able to access rewards more immediately, by receiving two percent back in ExtraBucks rewards moments after nearly every transaction. That means every time you pop in for a deodorant refill, bottle of seltzer, or Q-tips, you're getting two percent back This is the first change to the program’s core two percent back benefit in its 20-year history. Members also receive $3 in celebratory ExtraBucks Rewards to spend during their birthday month.

CVS App Event: ExtraCare members who link their loyalty account in the CVS Pharmacy app will be able to access weekly free gifts. Each week, all they have to do is just check the “Deals” section of the CVS app, and then tap to digitally send their available freebies (plus other rewards and savings) to their ExtraCare cards to redeem in-store or online while supplies last. The free gifts include some of CVS’ favorite for self-care, from snacks to select beauty products. Throughout the app-exclusive event, members can explore daily offers and simply send them to their ExtraCare card digitally in the app to redeem their free gifts in-store or online while supplies last. This week’s gift is a FREE Gold Emblem Bagged Candy."

Not sure which bag of candy to choose? The store offers everything from Butterscotch candies to Gummy Sharks, Caramel Squares to Wintergreen Mints, and more. The biggest decision should probably be which location you're going to stop in.

"Obviously the right decision here is choosing the biggest possible CVS store, because they're more likely to have a bigger candy aisle with more candy offerings," says eager teenager Ginnifer Wine from Manhattan's Upper West Side. "The biggest one I know of is in Times Square, so I'm going to take the train down. It's worth it for candy."

Ginnifer is right, because the CVS Pharmacy store at 1440 Broadway in Times Square is the largest CVS in the city and features the retailer's new, updated store format with a broader range of offerings than some of the smaller stores around the city and state.

"I'm going to bring my mom and brother, too," Ginnifer told us. "If we all download the app, we all get candies. I don't care if I'm starting college in a couple of months. I'm team gummy bears for life. They're just so good, but I guess all gummies are good. And pro-tip: the Gold Emblem ones taste exactly like Haribo."
