The fifth-ranked Pirates got out to a quick start on the hosts and sailed away with a 7017 win. Perrin will take a 31-4 record into the Class A playoffs which began Tuesday against Saint Jo. Bryson finished fourth in District 21-A and faced Slidell last night. Details were not available as of press time. Jack McCormick got the Pirates off on the right foot, scoring twice in the first 50 seconds. Both teams went cold for a spell but the visitors used free throws from Hunter Walker and Ryan Richerson to go up 8-0. The lead went into double figures before Bryson got on the board courtesy of Ben Bennett’s bucket with 2:15 left. Perrin would close the quarter with baskets by Case Lambert and Cole Keeney, the Pirates, who were 6-15 shooting in the frame, taking a 17-2 lead into the second quarter. Perrin, which was 14-18 at the free throw line in the first half compared to 0-2 for Bryson, was able to extend the lead to 19 with free throws from Lambert and McCormick. Lambert converted baskets from both inside and out for a 26-2 lead. Bryson was frustrated by Perrin’s defense which also allowed for breakaway layins. Bryson missed all 11 shots from the field in the quarter which enabled Perrin to take a 42-2 lead at the half. A Caleb Allen three-pointer snapped the scoreless streak with 6:42 left in the third. After 6-21 shooting in the second quarter, Perrin found the hot hand again, converting 8-15 shots in the third. Bryson senior Tyler Cotter had a basket but the Pirates were able to take a 58-7 lead into the final quarter. Perrin reserves got some playing time in the fourth quarter. Manny Quevedo, Jaxon Albin and Joe Welch all got on the board with baskets late. Bennett had two buckets for Bryson with Allen, Gavin Sadler and Chance Hand scoring for the Cowboys. McCormick led four Pirates in double figures with 18 points. Richerson added 15, Lambert 13 and Walker 10. Bennett had six points and Allen five for Bryson.
