BISD wants local talent Brian Smith Tue, 02/27/2024 - 8:14 pm Bryson ISD is working on helping teachers and paraprofessionals become certified teachers. BISD Superintendent Greg London said during the board of trustees’ Monday, Feb. 19 meeting, the district is willing to work with anyone wanting to get their certification and become a teacher. Presently, the district is working with two paraprofessionals and one non certified teacher on getting certification. For this, Bryson ISD is asking for three years of service with the district. “It shows we’re committed to them,” London said. “They in turn will give us three years of service.” London also told the board the high school gym will be receiving two new scoreboards next year. The Athletic Booster Club will be helping cover the cost. One big and one small scoreboard is expected to cost approximately $29,000, London said. The elementary school playground had a pair of basketball goals installed recently which London said the kids really seem to enjoy. The board also decided to not employ a full-time chaplain but to continue using them if and when a tragedy would strike. London said it’s a similar idea to what Jacksboro ISD had approved earlier in the month.
