Bryson ISD adopts four-day calendar Brian Smith Tue, 05/28/2024 - 2:32 pm After weeks of discussion about the possibility of having a four-day school calendar, Bryson ISD board members voted 5-2 to adopt the calendar for the 20242025 school year. The board’s initial vote in April on the agenda item ended in a 3-3 tie. Members of the public expressed their concern with going to a four-day calendar, including day care at the April meeting. At the Monday, May 20 meeting, a full house of about 25 people came to see the outcome of the vote. Ten speakers, including some teachers, spoke on the subject. The board deliberated for a short time before a vote was called. Superintendent Greg London said he is ready to go for next year. “I’m excited about the opportunity and trying something different,” London said. The school year will begin for students Tuesday, Aug. 6. School will be in session each day from 7:50 a.m. to 3:59 p.m., with tutorials beginning at 7:30 a.m. The holidays will remain mostly the same with students and staff out of school during the week of Thanksgiving. Christmas Break will be from Friday, Dec. 20 through Friday, Jan. 3. The next BISD board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, June 17.
