Hazleton man injured in tractor accident
Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a personal injury accident in the 2000 block of 170th Street at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Daniel Hoveland of Hazleton was attempting to climb onto a Massey Ferguson 255 tractor when he lost his balance and fell backwards. In doing so, Hoveland struck the shifter, causing the tractor to roll forward. Hoveland fell against a fence and then forward and partially under the tractor as it was moving. He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to UI Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by AMR Ambulance Service.

Child seriously injured in fall from moving truck
An 11-year-old boy was serious injured when he fell from a moving vehicle Wednesday, June 12 north of Quasqueton. Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the personal injury accident at 1:10 p.m. in the 2600 block of Quasqueton Diagonal Boulevard where the child, who was unrestrained, had fallen out of the 1994 Chevrolet S10 when the passenger side door opened. The pickup was being driven northbound by Sara Raue of Walker when the accident occurred. The boy was airlifted to UI Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City. No other injuries were reported. The accident is under investigation and charges are pending. Deputies were assisted by Quasqueton Fire Department, AMR Ambulance Service and LifeGuard Air Ambulance.
